Default purchased an alpine 9847

this was part of the 2005 lineup that did not have the oem steering wheel option....
i think i may have to buy the modifry dci... but this particular unit specs "wireless remote ready"... will the modifry work??does it mean that the unit comes with infrared capability

Yes the CDA-9847 has a remote sensor (See page 7 of the owners manual). And on page 24, they have a referance to the remote (RUE-4202), So Modifry's DCI should work perfect.

cool. i just got the 9847 the other day at bestbuy. i would have got a better one but this is the best one that they have with a detachable face. i was so frustrated with my oem deck because it kept on changing from cd to fm to fm2 to am all by itself. also the steering wheel controls were messing up too. the CH button was increasing volume! and the source button was changing tracks, grrrr! so i went to bestbuy, asked the dude to pick one out. and thats what i walked out with. i was so excited i installed the deck in the parking lot in 5 mins. lol.

So is the CDA 9847 able to use a DCI without a remote? If so, this would be chin, seeing as how I'm not too keen on having to pick up a RUE-4187, RUE-4190 or RUE-4202.

Can anyone confirm?

I have the 9847 and Modifry's DCI via infared. Everything works perfectly, plus now you can get the Modifry wired DCI for Alpine HUs.

I just picked up the SWI-X, will I still need a remote control with my 9847?

I don't know what the swi is, but between the dash controls and the radio, I can't see why you'd also need a remote unless you wanted to control the radio from outside the car.

Oh, okay. I just figured I needed an infared remote to send a signal to the head unit from the SWI-X.

Thanks guys...
