purchased an alpine 9847
Speaking of the 9847, I just installed the Modifry IR DCI last night and I have the emitter coming out just above the eject button near the upper right corner. I thought this would be ideal since the IR receiver is just under the eject button. However, the eject button is blocking the signal and the IR only works when I close the radio door to reflect the signal back towards the sensor. This is kind of cool, but inconvenient, because the dash controls and SCV are temporarily disabled when I open the radio door. Besides this minor issue, the Modifry DCI is definitely the way to go. The tap-n-press functions and SCV are way better than the factory controls.
For those of you with the Modifry IR DCI and 9847, where did you place the IR emitter?

Fwiw, you can buy a wired DCI from Modifry now to avoid the emitter issue you have. Also, you can position the emitter off to the right so it doesn't obstruct the eject button. Just pull the emitter out a but - its not you'll ever see it if you're not looking for it.
Here is how my emitter is set - works great door up or down unless its in direct sunlight.

Saki GT,
Thanks very much for the pic! Unfortunately, the 9847 doesn't support the wired remote, so we have to use the IR DCI. If I can make sure the signal is reliable, I would be perfectly happy with the IR over the wired DCI. I'll try to reposition the emitter like you have in the pic.

Well, the receiver on the unit is just under the eject button and above the "MP3" shown in the picture above. Besides the location shown, the only other location is to place the diode along the right side with the diode facing left. Which position would be considered more "efficient?"
