Q: Can the factory head unit output be internally

If so, How or Who?

I know that the factory output signal sucks so iit seems that expernal line level converters would be a wasted effort.

No they can't be "internally converted". You can buy a line level converter to change them but not with the head unit. And yes the HU sucks... just get a new one.
