Default Quarantine boredom... fixing OEM alarm

Hello everybody! I hope everyone is staying safe.

I made a post on the S2000 Enthusiasts Facebook group asking if the red light on the center console and button under the dash are part of the OEM alarm system. After some commenting I went and checked under the drivers seat and found the "Honda Security Control Main Unit".

A few years back when I got the car, I had a key fob that would arm the alarm. Sadly I lost it and got another one, which does not arm the alarm, only does the basic keyless entry functions. I completely forgot about the alarm and just used the basic keyless entry functions with the new fob. I once had to remove the center console (AP2 center console but it's a 2001) and disconnected the red LED and never connected it again.

A couple months ago, I had to switch my ECU because the O2 sensors were connected backwards and fried that circuit on the ECU. I had to reprogram both of my keys and the fob that only does the basic keyless entry (I never found the one that does the alarm)

From my understanding, going ahead and connecting the red led will not fix the key fob not arming the alarm. Is there a way to program my key fob so that it'll arm the alarm like the one I had before? Also, is there an explanation of all the functions of the alarm and the black button under the dash.

I saw someone comment a photo of what the fob that arms the alarm looks like. It's the same as mine but has "option" on where "trunk" would be on mine. I'm trying not to have to buy another fob and just reprogram the one I have to do the alarm.

Thanks

I tried to do something similar a long time ago when I first had this alarm. I wanted to use the trunk fob on this alarm. Could not get it to work and do not have this alarm anymore.

The OEM keyless entry and alarm fobs, while appearing similar, are different.
The original keyless fob communicates with the keyless entry module, which locks/unlocks the doors.
The dealer-installed accessory alarm comes with its own fobs which communicate with the alarm
controller, which in turn sends door lock/unlock commands via wire to the keyless unit, which actually
does the locking/unlocking.
Thus, the original non-alarm key fobs will continue to lock/unlock, but not arm/disarm the alarm.
I assume it's possible to buy the correct alarm fobs and program them to the alarm, but i don't
know for sure.

I'm guessing I have to buy the OEM key fob that has the "Option" button instead of trunk. I kinda don't wanna mess with it taking it out, just to play it safe lol

I think I have to ask somebody that works at Honda and knows these alarms pretty good. I'm sure I have to buy the different key fob, but I would still need to learn how to program it. Do you know anybody? Thanks

After about 3 hours of thread reading, parts catalog scouring and eBay searching here's what I found.

On the parts manual of a 2001 S2000, under Electrical Accessories, the "Security Control Unit" is P/N: 08E51-S84-1M0-02. Great! That's the same P/N of the "Security Control Unit" that's on my car. When I searched that P/N on eBay, the "Security Control Units" that popped up have the FCCID: A269ZUA104, which matches the FCCID on my car's "Security Control Unit" perfectly.

Now, when I go to "Transmitter, Keyless" under Electrical Accessories catalog for the same 2001 S2000, the P/N for the fob for the "Security Control Unit" is 08E51-S0X-1M0G1. When you look that P/N up on eBay, it shows a key fob but with the wrong FCCID, with FCCID: A269ZUA101.

(08E51-S0X-1M0G1 has the "options" button)

When you search eBay for "A269ZUA101" you get tons of key fobs.

When you search eBay for "A269ZUA104" you get 0 key fobs.

Even when you search here on S2Ki "A269ZUA101" you see a bunch of threads talking about the alarms and key fobs.

When you search "A269ZUA104" there's only 1 post with 0 replies from 12 years ago. A guy with the same problem I have. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/want-buy...id-fob-600538/

Am I the only person here with a security unit that has the FCCID: A269ZUA104? Is it possible for the key fob P/N: 08E51-S0X-1M0G1 to come in 2 versions, A269ZUA101 and A269ZUA104? How do I find the one with the FCCID I need?

Thanks again

not my area of expertise, but I believe each product would have it's own FCC ID, not that
corresponding products would share an FCC ID.

Per https://fccid.io/
A269ZUA101 is a DSC - Part 15 Security/Remote Control Transmitter
A269ZUA104 is a CYY - Communications Receiver used w/Pt 15 Transmitter
Both are manufactured by Alpine Electronics and operate in the range 433.4-434.4 MHz
