Question about dome light
I parked my S last night with the top down in the garage and noticed the dome light not turning off even though the dome switch was positioned in the middle, which is automatic. With the doors closed, if I lean over the car and switch it to ON it will flicker one and then turn ON and then if I put it back to the middle, the light remains off. I also tried open and closing the door and it seems to stay on. I'm not sure what the reason for this is but this seems to happen after I insert the key and put it in ACC and then turn it off and shut the door.
I'm wondering now if its always been like this and I never noticed because I never bothered to check through my tinted windows?
My dome switches (manual) do not work. if you press them IN or OUT, they dont turn on while driving or while in park. Something isnt right with the connections because the passenger side used to work but now it doesn't. however those same bulbs turn on when the door is ajar.
Question: Does pushing the dome buttons IN turn them on? Or is it when you press them OUT that they are in the "ON" position? I cant tell because they dont work anymore and dont remember.

Pushing them "in" turns them on. The reason why your lights still work with the slider in the auto position, and not when manually pushing the overhead buttons, is because there a difference ground path for the lighting circuit when the switch is in this position.
so i dont know if it was a safety feature where the car knew that the dome light being ON for a long time will turn it off but... i have kept the dome light in the proper OFF position and now it seems to work. Drivers side and passenger side switches both work. not sure what happened but ill take it
