Default question about IPOD

I know theres a few topics allready started on this, but theres alot of different connectors and I'm not sure it's the one I'm looking for, awhile ago I saw a website where this company sold a wire that plugged into the back of our s2000's radio and then directly into the ipod which powered it and the music would go through the radio...

anybody know what wire I'm talking about? if you could direct me to a link where I could buy it.. that would be great Oh and I have a 02 s2k.. Thanks all merry xmas

I have not (yet) tested any for myself, but my research leads me toward the Neo. It allows operation of the iPod from both the HU and the iPod at the same time.

Does anyone run an ipod to an aftermarket headunit through an aux input?

I am considering getting an Alpine KCA-420i but have read the difficulties of navigating individual songs or artists through this adaptor and an Alpine head unit 9855.
Since ipod's click wheel navigation works great, does anyone use it while driving?
If so, where do you mount the ipod?

I am not convinced using the clickwheel while driving and shifting is a great idea, but wanted to hear people's thoughts.

I just recently purchased the Alpine 9851 headunit and KCA-420i adapter about 2 weeks ago. So far I am pleased with the unit. There is a small delay in when initially selecting artist, album, or playlist. But as soon as it is selected you can easily browse the list by turning the knob. I generally play an album at a time and have had no problem finding the ones in the middle of the alphabet (out of about 100 artist and 140 albums). If looking for a particular song or songs from unrelated artist I could see where the delay could be a problem but that is what playlists are for. They can easily be set up with iTunes if you so choose. All in all I would purchase the same unit again, and it meets all my needs.

I would advise staying away from the ones with the touch bar though. Played with that one in the store for quite a while and could not seem to get the hang of it and it would be even more of problem sitting nestled behind the gear shift.

However, there are reports and I believe I saw a previous post on this board about the new Alpine headunits and iPod interface due out the 1st part of 2006 (usually announced by Alpine at CES I believe). Supposedly with no delay. These could be worth the wait.

I cannot comment on the ease of use of an iPod through an Aux input, as I have not tried one. But I imagine it would be a pain in the ass.

All in all, I would buy the same setup again. My 2 cents worth.
