Default Question about the JL Audio Stealth Box for S2K

Hello,

I was planning on picking one of these bad boy's up very soon. Who has experience with these and can comment on their performance. I have pretty high expectations from this unit but I figured I would ask around before laying down the cash.

I am going to be powering the units 10" 3ohm speaker with a USAmps 2 Channel unit bridged mono equaling somewhere around 400WRMS. I don't expect feeding the speaker an extra 100wrms to be an issue after idiot proofing the gain settings on the amp.

My goal is to attain a very tight and accurate hit from the sub since it's in a sealed enclosure to compliment the SQ system I am planning to put together.

Here's a list of the hardware I have to give you a better idea on what I am doing with the system:

Eclipse CD Receiver
6.5" Morel Dotech MKII Component's in a hidden customized door enclosure
Orion 225 HCCA Amp (Little Red Monster)...
USAmps 2 Channel unit bridged Mono for Sub
Audio Control 3Xs Crossover
Audio Control ESP-2 Spatial Restoration Device
10" JL Audio Stealth Box (Pending)
6.5" OZ Audio Midbass Drivers (Pending location to put them)
Dynamat in all the right locations

Thanks for any info you can provide on the Sub Box!

Personally, I think they are WAY overpriced. The speaker is great, though, as are pretty much ANY of JL's subs. If you can swing the cheese, do it.

I got mine off eBay for $150 shipped...looks damn like the JL. It is not recessed, but rather flush mount. That does not matter to me, as I like the flush mount look better.

PM me your email address and I can send some photos (havent learned how to host with Comcast yet).

I have the JL stealth box. It is over priced but I am pleased with it.

Just go to a Tweeter or HifiBuys. I had one made for $350. Fiberglass enclosure with acrylic carpted cover. Just like the stealthbox, just not as pricey.

Do you have any pics of your Sub Box that Tweeter made for you? What kind of sub did they drop in there for you?

I'm not too concerned with the price of the stealth box but more concerned with it's performance. It's a damn shame to have to buy one because I have a 12" JL w4 in my basement that's damn near new but there's not enough space to be able to utilize it's full potential.

I can take pictures of it in the car, but I don't really want to pull it out. I mean, in general, it looks exactly like the Stealth box. When I took the car in, they said they could even build a box like that for a 10W7v2. They would just build it up a bit more so it wouldn't sit flush with the trunk. I had a 10W3v2 which is exactly what the Stealthbox comes with. Now, granted I already had my sub. So after paying for the sub and the custom made box, I guess you're pretty much paying the same price...

Just got my picture hosting up and running. Here is a photo of the box:

Like I said....it is a shade lighter than the OEM carpeting, but it is not really that huge of a difference....not worth the extra $200 to match exactly. Can also buy OEM carpeting and have it professionally installed for $80.

If you can fork the xtra green go with the JL Audio....I had a custom box made when I first got my S and was using a comparable sub to the JL and it was not as deep and sharp as the JL I have now...and was also using and 400w RMS amp with custom box to think of it. Currently pushing the entire system is a JL Audio 4-ch. 600w....300w---> front JL Audio competition 6.5 components and 300(brigd) ---> Stealth, and all wired in to A Sony 5.5V Pre-Amp Output CD.....
---------------------important---------------

IF YOU GO WITH THE STEALTH BOX, DON'T NEGLECT THE STEP OF BOLTING THE BOX TO THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR(req cutting 2 holes in the trunk and using the supplied hardware from JL...easy!) Sound quality will be compromised if not!

I can sent Pics if you would like just PM E-Mail

I think the JL stealthbox is over priced like most other people have said. The W3v2 is a good sub though. I had a single 10" W3v2 with the JL 250/1 amp on it in a sealed box when I had my GTI and wasn't disappointed. The sub hits pretty hard with tight and accurate bass. Unfortunatly after 5-6 months the sub blew . I picked up the new Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 Punch sub to replace it and it's just so much nicer. The Fosgate sounds even better then the JL and is a lot higher quality. You put these two subs next to each other and the RF just puts the W3 to shame.
