Default Question Regarding Lucid Rear speaker

I just purchased a set of lucid rear speaker panels (used) and they are supposed to work with the OEM HU. I was wondering if anyone here has an 01 with the rear speakers. I heard there is wiring already in place and all it takes is an adaptor from lucid...others have told me that it is the case only with the EDM models.....any advice is appreciated. BTW, I did email lucid and got no response..

From what I have read in these threads, all you will need is the harness from Lucid for your OEM HU. However, you will need to run some speaker wire to the rear speakers; those are not already there. Not sure what an "EDM" model is. Check out his web site for details: Lucid Automotive.

Good luck!

The HU didn't change till '02 but I don't think this would make any difference in terms of the wiring. The seconds set of outputs on the back of the HU are there on all model years, BUT you still need some way of accessing them. That's where the Lucid harness comes into play. When I installed my rears initially, I modified the stock harness to accept the 4 wires needed to tap those other pins. Then I soldered them to the pins. They don't hold well as our cars vibrate more than usual. One of my solders failed after only a few days. Lucid's harness is well worth the money to save on hassles and to make a solid trouble free connection. And yes, you will still need to run speaker wires back to the rears. Lucid's harness comes with the short wires ready to be spliced into.

Dave, Dave, Dave.....how could YOU, the Guru, The King of DYI not take any pics Well, thanks for the explanation. I am going to order the Lucid adaptor. Will any type of speaker wire do? Yes, as a matter of fact I do want you to spoon feed me the answers..LOL. The only thing better would be for you to come down from Canada for an install day....hey wait a tic. I'll bet I could get enough people from the Mid-A club to sponsor a trip down for a DYI clinic and drive....what do ya say Dave?

You don't have to go nuts with the wire thickness, especially with the wattage that our HU puts out. I'd say get something in the 10-14 gauge, twin wire, with one wire color striped for easy ID of positive.

A trip down? Actually, Rick Hesel and I are currently in negotiations to bring me down for the "Falls Colors" thing. We'll see how that goes.
