Default Questions about radio upgrade

It's time for the radio to get an upgrade. HELP!!!! I'm about to purchase Sony CDX- F7005X for $179.99 and Infinity 62.5i for my front speakers for $109. Is that a good price for these products. I don't know if I'm going to stick with the Head unit because I have to close it manually (i'm pretty lazy) but the guy at the store told me that it was a really good HU and he recommended it over a lot of other HU that cost a lot more then this one. As for the speakers I wasn't sure if I wanted to get these since the tweeter is in the same spot as the 6.5 and when I drive my leg pretty much blocks that speaker. The guy said that I won't have problem hearing the speaker. What do all you guys think. I don't know to much about car audio so your opinions will help out lots.

Thanks

Well I highly suggest you return that HU and get something else.

However that said what are your plans/wants/needs with regards to upgrading your system?

What type of music do you like? Do you have a limit on how much you are will to invest?

I'm already thinking about getting the Clarion ProAudio DXZ845MC instead of the Sony. I just want to be able to hear my music when I'm driving on the Highway. I also want to get a Sub in my trunk but thats probably going to have to wait a while. When I do decide to get a Sub I was thinking about ordering a 10" box from LUCID. My budget all depends on how much the wife lets me spend.

I can help you design something useful, just figure out a rough budget. Rough like $500, $700, $1000 whatever you can come up with. Once I have that we'll get started.

I was thinking a HU for no more then 300 so Clarion ProAudio DXZ845MC was something I was thinking about getting. I'm pretty much set on getting this HU unless I hear that it's not a good HU.

For the speakers I don't know how much I want to spend on the 6.5. Somewhere around 100 if possible.

I'm clueless how much I want to spend on my SUB and an AMP. I'm going to try and make my own box so I'm not worried about the cost of the box. I only want to run either one 12 or 10. I'm not sure what type of speaker is going to fit in the box so I guess I'm going to need to build the box and then find out.

I appreciate your help

Well I would say that, the Clarion ProAudio DXZ845MC will work but you really should look into a HU with 'Time Correction'. TC will allow you to adjust the sound so you can better hear it.

As for speakers I would suggest spending a little more if possible.... BTW will you be doing the install yourself and if yes are you good at it or a noob at it. By 'good' I mean are you handy with a screwdriver?

Could you suggest some that have that feature.

I'm not the greatest with a screw driver but I think that if I have to get wires to get the dash to work I might need a pro to do it. Or at least someone who knows what there doing. I guess I'll have to find someone to help me so that I can save some money on install.

ANYONE IN THE 808 want to help with a stereo install hopefully in FEB????
