Default Quick HU Install Question

Ok I go pull the stereo out and started splicing the harness'es (aftermarket & the new HU) together (w/wired DCI)when I realized that 2 plugs came out of the back of the factory HU. What do I do about the second smaller plug? Do I leave it?

So I'm guessin that I say screw the smal plug so I've gone full steam ahead and encountered new problems

1.My harness has no power antenna wire. (Do I need It?)
2.Harness has no dash mute wire
3.Harness has no dash switch wire

I've already dropped about a $700 between the HU, DCI, & Speakers. I am screwed because of a frickin harness?

1. Yes
2. By harness you mean HU harness right? if so, only HU's with an audio interrupt will have the wire.
3. dash switch? you mean dash control wire? again do you mean the HU's harness or the aftermarket one?

I hope you got the modifry harness with the DCI, it's easier to use. You need the right type of HU to use the wired DCI, so tell us what equipment you have and we can help you more.

As for the second plug, you don't use it, it's for the changer and such.

I have a Alpine IDA-X001 which came with a free aftermarket harness (I know, get what u pay for). Plus I had rear speakers put in last week and they are wired to the factory harness in the car already.

I also bought the radioshack screw terminal strip, which is now full cause of my rear speakers, and sadly missing the aformentioned wires.

Order modifry's harness...I had NEVER installed/removed a HU, and with all the info. here and ordering from modifry, I had my CDA-9885 installed in less than 10 minutes (and Bob is fast with shipping and replacing any defective parts )

Bottom = Free aftermarket Harness
Top Left = Alpine Harness
Right = Modifry

So, is my only option another $25 modifry part ? I've done most of the work already including wiring the usb to the glove box for the ipod. I just would rather not go a week without a stereo if I could help it.......

You may want to get the modifry harness, shorten the wires on it and the alpine harness, then solder the connections, it'll be a real tight fit with your current harness setup. Just my opinion..

I wish, I left my soldering gun in Tampa when I moved out here. But I bought that 12 point lead connector on advice from the modifry site. It's better than electrical tape at least......

All I know is I'm without tunes (and apparently another $30)and that sucks...

Thanks for the help though guys....

I agree, tucking in all those wires plus that power strip is going to be uncomfortable to say the least.

This will be even worse if you are running outboard amps or have any other accessories which also plug into the back of the HU.
