Default Radar Detector Placement Question

This is probably a question that was posted in the past (didn't find it in search though).
I'm looking to hardwire an 8500 radar detector and was wondering where people put their radar detector. When I was at Wake the Dragon, I noticed some people had them clipped to their visor, some in the middle of the windshield, and a couple placed in the bottom left corner of the windshield.
Locationwise, I like the bottom left location..it seems the least noticeable, however, what about effectiveness? Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The best spot is right to the LEFT of the rearview mirror.

Why to the LEFT, and why not dead center, or to the right of the rear view mirror?

To the right of the rearview....

Not visible well to driver....
Not 100% direct view out the rear window.

In the middle just looks stupid. (sitting in the middle of your windshield.)

Left is best.

It may look awkward, but dead center is the most effective position, top up or down.

I've always thought it was best to get it as high up on the windshield as you can. When you're climbing a hill and there's a cop waiting for you on the other side, it would seem to me that the higher up your detector is the sooner it'll detect radar. With it down low, more of your vehicle has reached the crest of the hill and you run a higher risk of being nailed. JMO
