Radar Detectors, Laser false alarms?
This has happened twice, both times the only time my V1 has said there was a laser in the vicinity.
The first was on an open road in AZ, when I got the alert. There wasn't anything around us, and the only thing nearby approaching us was a Nissan Murano or Infinity FX35/45 approaching us from the opposing lane.
Just yesterday, in SoCal, I got another alert in a speed-trap area from behind, and I saw a FX35 come up behind me. When the SUV changed lanes, the alert stopped.
So, I'm wondering... is there anything on these SUVs that would cause falsing on radar detectors? I notice it's got an intelligent cruise control that emits from the front.
EDIT:
I guess I'm right. I got this off of google. The FX series has the same cruise control:
A new feature for the 2002 model year is Intelligent Cruise Control, a system shared with the Q45 flagship sedan. The system adjusts the vehicle's speed and distance to traffic in front of the car when the cruise control is operated and reacts to traffic speed changes far faster that a driver can, increasing the safety margin for the QX4 driver and passengers.
This innovative system combines laser sensors, throttle and brake actuators, keeping a constant distance between the QX4 and cars ahead.
Oh well, I guess the laser band's going to get more cluttered over the years as well...

Sounds like you're right. I've had a few weird falses as well. Once in a parking garage coming up on a minivan.
The worst was in my g/f's car though. We were on a completely empty road. She sprayed the windsheild and it set off the laser detector. She stopped, it stopped. Did it again. Same deal.
I always get annoyed when I'm behind a trailblazer too. Their stupid brake lights set mine off like crazy.

Interesting post.
I've been running an Excort SR1 for almost 2 years and have only gotten 3 or 4 laser indications, all of which were easily confirmed as real police laser. I assume laser isn't used much in my part of the country, but there are plenty of the vehicles you guys mention as being the source of laser false alarms. And I drive a LOT, so it's not like I'm not exposed to laser sources.
So maybe the SR1 is more immune to flase alarms? Perhaps it's tuned to the laser gun wavelength more closely than other detectors? Or maybe it looks for a modulated signal and ignores steady light sources like LED brake lights?

hrm... i find this whole topic/subject very curious. my experience w/ my 8500 hasn't had this issue yet, but i'm going to be on the watch for it....
i seem to see quite a few FX series SUV's on a pretty regular basis... but then again, the 8500 doesn't seem to have the trailblazer laser alert issue either....

as it is around here, our city and parish (think county) police and the state troopers don't seem to know where the off button is... so, it's just about the same as if they did have the Trailblazer and Infinity systems... probably better, since i get the K and Ka miles away...
