Default radio code?

Do we have to reactivate radio by a code or #s if the battery is pulled? My car is a 00 with stock radio. If not, do you think the dealer has code? Thanks

Should be in your service manual.

Yes it does have on. It's 5 digits. if it's not on the first page of your service or owners manual they you may try turning the radio off...hold 1 and 6 on the radio and turn it on..it may give you two 4 digit codes making on 8 digit code which the dealership can look up in their computer to give you your radio code. I don't think they started that until 2001 though. so if you can't get it then you'll have to pull the radio out and get the serial number of the radio unit and the dealership can look it up that way.

I don't have the code in my manuel. I read the manuel just now, and it does say that it needs a 5 digit code. Pulling the radio must be a pain in the rear. With the 8 digit # the dealer can look it up? Wonder what they charge for that? Hey, THanks for the quick reply.

they'll do it for free. they're supposed to put it in the first page of the manual or the inside cover where all the other info about that particular car is. and ya it blows they can't look it up by vin number...the dealer where the car was sold new 'may' have it on file still but being a 2000 i would doubt it.

mine is in the center console door. there's a 5 digit number and a 10 digit number. the 5 digit number is the radio code.
