Ok, I have never had my rear panels off, so I am not certain of the clearance issues and I suspect that it it were possible someone would have already tried it, but, is there clearance for a set of 4x6 or 5x7 speakers instead of the 5.25 in the rear panels?

If they would fit, is there a reason to do it, eg. how does sound quality vs. volume compare?

Most of the ones that I just briefly looked at on the web are similar in mounting depth, but I am not sure of the other clearance issues, or even if there is an advantage over the 5.25.

 

This topic has been beaten to death. Try doing a search for rear speakers. I myself am curious about how they sound. There has been a lot of debate about whether or not they truly add to the sound as much as expected.

Bottom line is, you'll never know how it sounds until you've heard it live.
