Default Rear Speaker Feedback Wanted

I plan to add rear speakers but would like feedback on the idea. I have a set of components (Polk EX3550) for the rear but want to keep the costs down versus S-Pods. Anyway, has anyone tried mounting the midrange speaker in the rear panel (aka Lucid) but locating the tweeter up near the headrest? Feedback appreciated.

There's a couple guys on here that have done exactly that. I take it you didn't come up with anything using the search. I don't remember what any of them had to say, but I'll be doing the same this weekend. I currently have the midrange installed in the panels but haven't done the tweeter yet. The fill is nice and it's much cheaper than S pods.

Ive had the lucid and now s-pods...difference? loads!! frankly, it has SO much more sound resolution with the s-pods than with the old lucid panels, no distortion, pure sounds with the top down and going 100mph!!! so what if there is slight cost diffference... it was well worth it and they look great as well....just adjust the fade a little and you have perfect sound stage....I have a 1600 watt amp and no distortion...if you had to pick just one upgrade on a limited budget, it should be the s-pods!!!

I had been running the all four speakers off my aftermarket 52 x4 Sony HU and the rears created some much needed fill so I could hear the sound. But, since I put an external amp on the front speakers I don't see much need for the rears and actually don't have them hooked up right now.

I would suggest investing money in an amplifier and then if that isn't enough, then get the S-pods. They do look sweet though.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to keep the cost down so I was leaning away from the S-Pods and hoping that there was a less expensive solution. Other options?

What's the mounting depth in the rear? I'll just cut my stock panels.

I haven't actually measured it, but there is a decent amount. I think 3-4 inches

I installed cadence 5.25 titaniums in the rear. They are larger than lucid will go and with good reason! as it requires more work but the sound is excellent.
