I want to put a set of 5.25's behind my seats and i wanted to see if anyone has cut behind the seat to install speakers. I dont like the look of the S pods. Any ideas?

you don't see it if you put the grille on.

S pods rock! Inspire me to make one myself and now I'm adding another speaker where the wind screen is at; 5.1 surround sound.

nothign is wrong with spods to me--- they're just realllly expensive and I dotn really like the idea of plugging up the hoop or a speaker bascilly 3 inches away from my head.

just weighing my options. no matter what they'd be the last thing on my list of stereo mods.

I dont like the S pods because i like the look of the hoop being open behind my head. They do look great for aftermarket but i would prefer to put the speaker behind my seats. I guess nobody has done it or doesnt have any pictures to post

I just added a "component" system to my car which in effect is a four channel front only system. The two rears are mainly for effect and really don't need upgrading in my opinion.
This car is too small to expect great gains from any upgrade to the rears.
Of course this is an opinion and I may be wrong. I haven't heard a system with extended range speakers in the rear.
Spend your money improving the front four and forget the rears unless you've experienced something different.
I'm getting ready to add a a four channel amp and see how that goes. Maybe later down the line I'll add a small subwoofer.
Agreements or disagreements welcome. I'd be interested in hearing from others the effect of un-amped and improved rear speakers.

if you do a search, you'll find various threads going back many years
on the relative merits of this approach. Searching the electronics
forum for "lucid rear" produces four pages of threads going back to 2001.
My opinion: worthwhile if you're going with headunit power only, as you
effectively double your output. I was happy with mine until I added an
external amp, now I just find them pretty irrelevant and may pull them.
Other people have found the rear fill useful even though they have plenty
of power up front.
