Default Reboot Radio

Owned 3 Hondas. 90 Day Rookie on S2K. I changed the battery on my S2K before Winter hits and my radio and CD will not play. When I power it on, it displays CODE. I hit random numbers "111111" or whatever, to no avail. It even counts the number of errors for each attempt. 55555 is Error #5 on display....

Is it Bart Starr Honda bound for me? Dealers ain't fun

You should have the radio code on a card in your owner's manual stuff. If you don't have it, then you have to go to a Honda dealer, prove you own the car and the radio and they will get the particulars they need to get you your code. I suggest you write it down and put it in a safe place.

Next time you install a new battery in a car that has a code for the radio, try it this way:

The code is on the bottom of my radio, so it might be on yours if you don't mind taking it out to peak.

Do you know who put it there? It seems like this defeats the purpose of needing a code. The whole idea is that if the thing is stolen, it's no good to anybody else because they don't know the code. If it's written on the radio, what's the point? It's no longer an "anti-theft" feature.

Haha, I know. It looks like it came from the factory that way - I noticed when I was replacing my radio with an aftermarket unit, so maybe its how they ship the radios to keep the codes with them, but someone forgot to take it off. Otherwise, maybe they just do that with the newer S's.

I think yours is a unique case - an oversight at some point along the production path. I kinda doubt that, as part of the PDI at the dealer, anyone is going to pull the front frame off every S2000, unbolt the radio, just to get that code number off. If this is common practice for all new S2000s, word would get out to all the thieves and radios would be disappearing like crazy.

Nah, I got a radio code card separately when I bought the car new. It is stuck on the bottom of my radio right now, though. Of course, the radio is also stuck in the box for the Alpine I replaced it with so that is a good place for it.

I got a card too. When I pulled my radio, I went to tape the card to the factory deck, but the code was already there...
