Recommend an RCA 2-1 switch?
Hey everyone-
I am looking to be able to display my iPod videos on my Kenwood 2-DIN HU. This is not possible with Kenwood's iPod cable. So, I decided to just get the iPod standard RCA cable, and was going to route it in through the RCA Video Input for the unit. The problem is that the video portion of this is already being taken up by my rearview camera RCA (I used a bullet camera vs. the proprietary Kenwood one).
I am looking for a switch that can allow me to toggle between the rearview camera RCA input and the iPod RCA input. I am looking for something that is like a Y cable, but with a switch at the Y. All the RCA switches I have found are large, and are all 4-1. I only need 2-1.
I would ideally like one small enough that I can mount it into the kick panel that is on the side of the stereo/tranny tunnel (the one with the 1 screw holding it in place).
I have seen a few people with PS2 setups that can toggle, so I was just wondering what switches everyone uses.
I want to say that s4play has a setup similar to what I am looking for...
Thanks
John

Sorry buddy, couldn't find anything that was less than three inputs and they all looked big and crappy anyways.
Good luck finding this. I doubt it, but you might ask at RadioShack or BestBuy.
Oh and what about Stereo Sales? They're probably your best shot.

John, I looked too a couple of days ago and basically found nothing. What I did find though, was a two way stereo audio switch by PIE. It MIGHT work for you and is compact. I think the switch over is electrically actuated though and I don't know if it will pass video frequencies or not.
You know, I was thinking you could probably do it with one of these and three F-connector to RCA adaptors. RF frequency is far higher than composite video so these should give plenty of isolation even with the cheap one and are somewhat compact if not exactly pretty.

And three of these: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=090-268

Or, if you are handy, build your own with a high frequency relay -- apply 12V - switch relay.

Or just cobble up your own with a switch. IIRC you are only dealing with about 5MHz or so.

Awesome. I am going to look into the RCA-->RF adapters... I will report back with results. The switch will be pretty flush mounted into the kick panel (painted all black, of course).
