Default Relocating the battery

I want to relocate my battery to the spare tire compartment, with one of those small lightweight batteries. I guess I have a few questions, does the battery need to be able to vent, is it ok if the battery is mounted on its side, are those small lightweight batteries even reliable? Is this project even practical? Any information to help expand my knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There have been a few people do this. You will need a sealed dry battery, like Optima. And a battery relocate kit available from Summit or Jegs etc. You will be moving a good bit of weight to the rear of the car.

If you have any desire to drag race, don't relocate the battery because you will have to have a battery cut-off switch installed in your rear bumper.

I thought the s2000 already has a perfect 50-50 weight balance. Why move it?

The S2000 does have perfect 50/50 weight balance, I didn't ask that. Why move it, cause my Spoon hood has a vent right were my battery is located, and I wouldn't want anybody to disconnet my battery now would I.
I want to install a small light weight battery on its side, enclosed in the spare wheel compartment. Now can the battery be installed on its side, and can it be enclosed in the spare wheel compartment. Thanks in advance, heres a pic so you can understand what my hood looks like.

I'm not really feeling the mesh on the hood. I really like it the way it is, open. Is my question posted in the right forum? Nobody has any kind of experience or knowledge on this topic?

I've done this on other cars I owned, Just make sure you buy a suitable battery. Sealed, none venting, and don't forget to secure the hell out of it, you don't want the battery to slide out of position and arc weld itself to the body of the car. Make sure and get some good oversized cables when moving the battery also, once you go through the trouble of running them through the car the last thing you'd want to do is re-do it becasue you skimped on the cable.

Another option to look at would be to convert the battery to a side post set up. I haven't looked but you could probably find a small batter with side terminals and no top post, solving your hood problem. A small change of the cable ends to ring terminals and you'd be set.

As was already mentioned the car may not pass tech inspection of different race events so if your car sees any track time check the rules before the move.

Hope this helps you out
