Default Remote start from OEM remote?

I was told that it is possible to pair an aftermarket alarm's remote to the OEm remote and it would work the same. Is this true? If so, I wanted to get a clifford alarm with remote start and somehow pair it to the OEM remote and possibly use the panic button as the remote starter.

Why not use the more advanced remote from the new alarm? To answer your question, the easy answer is no. If you perform enough surgery, it can be done.

The factory remote has limited range.

Ive done remote starts to factory remotes, but not Honda. The main thing is that the remote needs to be able to work with the car running. We set the factory remote to start the car by hitting the lock button twice. Mainly works for Fords, Buick, some Nissan and Chrysler.

Is there any to hack the part with the increased range from the aftermarket alarm and shove it in the OEM remote?

hold it under your chin, it basically doubles your range.

I do that all the time but for some reason it doesnt help. Maybe my body doesnt produce enough "electricity" to amplify the signal

Its still pretty short. I wouldn't say doubles the range, though but it does increase.

Its got nothing to do with your body's "electricity". It is merely using your body as a ground plane for the antenna much like your car body does for the radio antenna.

You can hack almost anything, but it's probably cheaper and faster to install a remote start system with a longer range remote. Of course if you have the time to learn RF circuit design that's another story.

There was somebody on here a year or so ago with enough smarts to hack the remotes and get longer range but it was not easy. I think he was trying to get enough people interested in it to make it affordable but I don't know how it turned out.

BUMP!

Anybody know if an aftermarket alarm could be hacked to fit into this key fob? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...type=osi_widget
