Just got to remember to leave it in neutral and the alarm is great!

With the Viper V790, is it possible make that safety feature of not letting the remote start work when it is in gear? And having a key in the car all time necessary? I know that our key has a chip in it but can the handheld transmit the same frequency or have the key chip send the frequency only when the handheld is used?

In order for the remote start to work a key has to be left in the vehicle at all times or at least when you want to start the car. If you can develop a pin to become depressed when the vehicle is in gear then yes you can install a relay to not allow remote starting when the pin is depressed. The only problem is getting the pin to work and installing it where it will become depressed when the car is put into gear. If a problem for this is solved it is easy to run it into the alarm.

These Circuit City installs never fail to scare the living SHIT out of me. Do you have any idea what that car will do when its started? Run over a little kid/blow through a garage door/buck across a parking lot.

I would not be able to sleep letting a car leave a shop in that condition!!!! And people wonder why I hate Circuit City/Tweeter/etc. installs................because they are done to a sub par level and very possibly DANGEROUS! Though that is what you get for low end labor.

I am sorry if I offended you but that is just in excusable!!!

Hello,

I have a questions for installtion Viper 790 XV. CircuitCity install all the alarm except remote starter. I was trying to install remote starter by myself. but I have a couple questions.

1. on the manual installation book. page 14 , it said Heavy gauge relay satellite wiring. I couldn't find this wiring. where usually they hide this wiring?
2. on the remote start ribbon harness wiring, "purple" wire (-) 200mA starter Relay Turn-On and pink wire (-) 200mA Ignition Relay turn-On. Where should I connect this wire to?
3. how many wires just to install remote starter?

I would highly recommend not trying to install auto security or remote starts on any car if your an average joe. It is too easy to deploy an airbag, damage the alarm, or damage the car. Circuit City will void your warranty if you tamper with their wiring and DEI will void your warranty if it is not installed by an authorized dealer.

Arcade.... the Heavy gauge relay sat wiring is most likely already installed but not all of the wires are hooked up. As for the ribbon cable wiring, do not mess with that. It just plugs into the main brain and connects to the relays that power the ignition and accesories. The ribbon cable only outputs a weak negative output signal to activate relays. You will have to use the Positve output from the heavy gauge wiring relays to activate the cars starter, ignition, accesories like the heater. Here is some wiring info for you if you want to try it yourself.

12volts white (x2) + ignition harness
Starter blue/white + L of column, lt blu 24P plug
Second Starter N/A
Ignition black/yellow + ignition harness
Second Ignition black/red + ignition harness
Third Ignition N/A
Accessory white/red + ignition harness
Second Accessory N/A
Keysense red/white - ignition harness

Notes: The keyless entry module is located in the driver kick behind the start button.
Power Unlock yellow/green & pink/blue 5wi keyless entry module

Lock Motor pink/black 5wi keyless entry module

Parking Lights- blue - headlight switch
Hazards same as turn signals
Turn Signal(L) green/red + steering column

Directed Electronics Inc. They are a very large company that make Viper, Clifford and many other off brands of alarms. They also have amps and speakers as well.

As good as these things are, and no matter how well you engineer it, it will never be fool-proof. It was only a couple of months ago that someone remote started his car and it crashed through his garage door. There have been reports of people remote starting and having the car launch itself off of an overhang.

I have a remote start on my Automatic Transmission truck, and I love it. I have had remote start on all my automatics for the last 7 years. (Four veichles.) I reccomend it highly, unless you have a manual transmission. I discourage remote start highly, it just seems like an accident waiting to happen.
