Default remote start system

noob question. hopefully hasn't be a topic before..

thinking about getting an alarm for my S and went to local audio dealer near home and asked them for the remote start. they told me, you could leave the car now but we need ur spare key to leave somewhere in ur car cuz ur car wont start without it. and i thought it kinda sounded shady. so i told em i'll be back... So is this true?
TIA...

Yes this is true. If your truely worried about it, they only need the black key head for the chip that is insideof it. What kind of remote start are you getting? Make sure it has some sort of safety to check that the car isn't in gear when you try to start it.

If you are worried about your key being in a module under the dash of your car, what I recommend to my customers is to get a new key programmed but not cut to the car. You will just have a key blank that is programmed with the resistance needed to activate the starting system.

BTW Viper or Clifford do not have a safety mechanism for manual. Look into Compustar.

I don't believe that the S has a neutral safety switch anyway. So it wouldn't matter if the alarm you buy has the feature of a safety switch. As far as you PKH2, I've never personally used it but I will talk to some of my buddies to see if they've ever used one. The only accessories I've ever used has been DEI.

The car does not have to have a neutral switch for the Compustar to work safely unlike DEI systems.
