Remote Starter?! Good or Bad?!
Hello everyone! I am planning on getting the whole package for my alarm system on the S. That includes pager alarm, keyless entry, keyless trunk, and a remote starter all in one.
Now, I was just wondering is it ok to have the remote starter being the S is a push button start? I really dont know if this would affect it or not thats why I am asking you all. Any feedback would be great. I just dont want to do anything that would harm my baby you know
. Thanks everyone.

The push button start is not the problem, the problem is the manual transmission.
For safety you should always park the car in gear. Of course, if you start the car, while it's in gear, the car will jump forward (or backward, if you park in reverse.)
If you do some searches on the handbrake, you will find a surprising number of incidents of people who have found their car has rolled away on them because the handbrake was not sufficient to hold the car in place.
It can be done, but I for one, strongly reccomend against it.

Oh my god...truthfully RUE, I am so against that. Well, I shouldnt say against it, just that I'm not use to it all all. There had been so many occasions where I took my car to the shop or valeted it(my other manuel vehicle) and they left it in first and I end up jumping and tapping the car in front of me. It is a horrible feeling. Anyways, I live in Chicago so there isnt really any need for it since there arent any hills here.
But besides those issues, getting a remote starter will not damage the mechanical works of the S in the long run, right?

The Compustar unit is made for manuals so it is safe and prevents you from leaving it in gear. Its also legal.

BTW -- it's not limited to the S2000 community. I have seen these reports on the Corvette Boards too.

Im getting my second Compustar installed in mine this wk. Current one was installed NOT by an authorized dealer....they did a horrible job. All the features dont work correctly. Compustar (the ones made for manual transmissions) has a shutdown sequence and will deactivate remote start unless its shutdown properly. AMazing system. IMO, people who hate Compustar have had crappy service or crappy experiences ALL due to improper installation/programming.
okay, so first of all i used to install audio and alarms in cars. in my opinion you should not install auto start in a manual. even with crimestopper and other "legal" alarms, it just doesn't give you the same warm and fuzzy feeling you know? jmtc
