Also, with the 06+ radio's they're XM ready, which means you have accessories that you can purchase that will plug in through that port and display/control through the OEM Head Unit (ie. ipod adapter, aftermarket Sirius/XM, auxilary).

One more thing - IMO in an '00 or '01, the speakers are the weakest link,
even worse than the headunit.

sorry to revive this thread, but i just got an 05 radio and installed it on MY00. one question is that i can not plug in the cd changer, because the plug is different, is there a way for me to make it work? thank you. and the ap2 radio is way better than my stock. worlds better. and i have no plans on going with an aftermarket radio. Thank you in advance.

Same problem I too am facing. I would like to upgrade to an 06+ radio but do not want to lose the function of the cd changer. Anybody with some info on this modification would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt anyone has ever successfully connected an AP1 CD changer to an AP2 headunit (or vice versa).
The connector change was probably due to a change in supplier of the headunit and CD player, and they
likely have a different control protocol (but I don't know this for sure).

One thing to consider when upgrading to an AP2 radio is that you will lose the clock. Honda shifted the clock display from the radio to the gauge cluster for all '04-'09 models. Not that big of a deal, but it's worth noting.

I have a 2000 and I don't have a radio.. I remember reading several times that these cars don't have radio's at all.. at least until AP2.

If it bothers you that much just get a head unit with a remote.
It's not because we don't want to reach down to it, it's reachable without moving.. but I like to keep my radio door closed and just use the dash controls.. it's more clean and the dash controls are within fingers reach from the steering wheel and they're fun to use

Little bit. lol. Why do they call it 'bump," though?
