Default Replacing backlight in Start Button

Just curious if anyone has done it. The little red micro bulb in the switch seems pretty dim, wondering if anyone has tried replacing it with something brighter. Installed the switch on my Accord today:

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Tim

Hahaha, well now you know, Ragweed! The quote in your sig is hilarious, if not a bit obscene ;D

If anyone knows how to do this, PLEASE help! It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I need to do the same this week sometime. I will post some pics and a DIY when I do it. It is best if you drop the steering column, but then its just the screws under the plates on the top of the dash cluster, then just pop the pressure pins loose. I have a few bulbs that are out behind there... I will take pics of the cluster and will also include any bulb sizes I need replacing.

John, are you planning to use OEM replacement bulbs? I've heard of people squeezing in LEDs with a current-limiting resistor, I'm just not sure if this will work and how effective it will be. Please keep us updated with your progress!

You guys are slow ;D

I took out the bulb to find a THICK, barely translucent diffusion cover over it. Took it off to see the difference:

Both pictures taken with identical exposures: 50mm, f/1.8, 1/60sec, ISO800.

More pics on my flickr if you're curious.

I installed the start button in my Civic years ago, changed the Amber bulb for a Red one to match the Si's color scheme. Its cake, once you get the button out, all you need is a flathead screwdriver to lightly twist out the tiny bulb, and replace.

Now getting out the button, not sure on that one.

Thanks

If you're not aware of this site yet... its really quite brilliant.

www.hondaautomotiveparts.com ... you'll never go to the dealer again... anyway...

go here.

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j...catcgry5=SWITCH

follow the diagram and you'll find the bulbs and the ones with different colors... amber, red, green, and blue... just order the one you want. Funny however... it says the start button one is red... maybe its different for different years of s2000, but, anyway, thats where I got the bulbs! they're cheap, order a bunch, see which ones you like.

Couldn't help but notice that the descriptions read:
"BULB (T3) (CAP:AMBER)," and
"BULB (T3) (CAP:RED)."

It seems that this "cap" is the thing that I ended up removing to get a decent amount of back light from the button:
