Cool Replacing the OEM Alarm Control Unit

Hey guys, I'll try and keep this short and get to the point. Last month I turned the alarm on my car using the lock button (it's the OEM alarm), and I couldn't disarm it. So I had to drive to Honda with my alarm going off to get them to fix it. Well, they told me the Alarm control unit was bad and it would cost $500 to fix. I told them to go screw themselves and just disconnect the alarm. The thought just occured to me that I could probably get the Alarm control unit for fairly cheap and just replace it myself. However, I am having a really hard time finding the part/part number for just the control unit. I've looked on majestic honda but can't find it, and the other parts website I've visited don't seem to have it either. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. If someone has recently upgraded to a better alarm and has a control unit laying around I would be willing to take it off their hands

I actually just found the part number its 08E61-S84-1M002, my local honda dealer said it would be $112. Which isn't bad. As kind of a follow up question. If I decided to not replace the alarm control unit and leave it unplugged, would I still be able to use my keyless entry? I guess when it comes down to it, I really just want to be able to use the keyless entry, and I'm willing to replace the alarm control unit to do it. So if I can save the $112, I would rather do that lol. Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Thanks for the help Agate, that's the full security system though, I just need the alarm control unit.

Do a search for that part number, you can find it for about $80.

Also, if it's the KCU that shows up on the Majestic Honda page, it's $75.

ahh, I found it!!! $80 is cheaper than $112 lol. I found one site that had it for $88 with shipping. I might as well just replace it so I can use my keyless entry for sure and my alarm will work again. Thanks agate!

You sure the battery in the remote just isn't dead? That's a lot cheaper.

Yeah, that's the first thing I replaced in my search to fix the problem. The remote works great but the stupid alarm control unit is broke

Moogle, is this why the key fob wasn't working? Or was the battery dead and the alarm thing was just a fluke?

Hey Josh, yeah it turns out the alarm control unit was bad, not the key fob. Which is very odd because I've never heard of that happening. They also said that was why the overhead light wasn't working (weird I know, but I guess it makes sense lol). It actuallly isn't that bad because the part is only $100 and I can replace it myself. There is no way anyone could have known without having to diagnose and troubleshoot the whole alarm system. It's a small price to pay to have an alarm on the car in my opinion lol.
