Rockford Fosgate Amp Problem
One of the channels is out in my old Rockford Fosgate 501x. I bought a used 551x from Ebay and am all ready to make the swap.
The screw that holds the end caps on appears to be a standard allen wrench socket (hex key). Apparently it is not. I have 2 complete sets of allen wrenches (1 standard and 1 metric). None of them will fit.
How do I remove this bolt? I have to get the end cap off on one end to access the wiring points. The other end is RCA so I can reach in and grab them without a problem.
I have tried several methods without any success. At this point, I am left with either drilling it out (which I really, really do not want to do) or welding an allen wrench to the socket and then unscrewing the newly formed single piece.
I am looking for suggestions. I really hope somebody has a better approach for this.

Just go to a local hardware store tell them you need to buy a single allen wrench but your not sure what size so you need to try a few different ones. Most True Value/mom and pop hardware stores won't have a problem with it.

Yea, rockford fosgate uses allen wrenches, they also suck, IMO.
I've been reading all of the DIYs and various project threads with my mouth watering waiting for the day when I can fund my own personal project.

actually -- bring the car/amp to the mom and pop shop, and let them find you the right wrench. then you can buy it.
might it be a torx screw? (star head?)
heck, they may even let you loosen it for free.

I'm a recent college grad which is code for "I'm broke." I had to put something back in there to actually have sound and this amp was dirt cheap.

that's why i won't buy another one...but if it works for now...
As usual Darkknight1999 was right. After going through several sets of allen wrenches I found one that fit.
I pulled the amp out and popped in the new one. The problem was still there. Grabbed the front and rear right side RCAs and plugged them into the front left and right inputs on the amp. I now have sound on both sides again.
Long story longer, my amp was fine. My head unit has lost a channel.
