I have a set of S-pods: Mark used aluminum plates for his. The back plates have a slight bend to them to fit better. I would doubt that the MDF will give the same shape (they'll probably bend too much). Finally, I like the look of the leather on the front, I don't want speaker cloth.. I think this is another case of you get what you pay for.
I installed the S-pods in january and they fit snug and securely...we're a lil rough around the edges but I put that down to low volume production...I'm happy with them though...haven't had a chance to drive the car top off yet but they are nice

if anyone on here has the ebay pods i would like to get your opinion on them.
I think the main difference is that you can use a slightly bigger speaker with the ebay pods..
1 thing to note if you do order from ebay measure the mounting diameter of the speaker he will need this in order to cut the hole the right size
I recently sold the last set of Blue S-Pods, and have one set of Red left. I'm now covering S-Pods with customer supplied material to accomidate people with colored interiors, and those who want something custom. Please contact me at: markus95758@yahoo.com for details. The Streetsmart web site hasn't been updated to reflect this yet.
That guy has tons of positive feedback for those things and they dont look terrible, a non s2k owner would never even notice them. I think being able to run a high quality speaker in that box would yeild good results. The factory honda headrest speakers are designed for the factory low output headunit.
I'm thinking long and hard on these things
