S2000 CR no/stereo need help on install.
^^ Well, I dont know if they were trying to make it a PITA or not but you also have to see their reason for making two versions. If you decide to purchase the CR with no ac and radio which is like 35-36k already they figure that you really didnt want those items so they gutted everything out for weight savings. They figure if you want those options, you can afford the 2-3k more for it since your paying 35-36k already. You just have to see it in that sense as well.
Don't really have time to mess with it since I do not know how to remove the din. The speaker area is blocked off with black plastic but the door interior are the same. I called hardtop guy and there are two part number for the CR therefore should be two harness versions
I suggest you remove the DIN cover and check inside for a head unit wiring harness. If it's there you're in luck. If not, geez ... that's gonna be a several weekend job.
I have a 2008 CR and I've installed an Alpine CDA-9885 with a PAC SWI-JACK. However, I purchased the CR with the AC/RADIO option to ensure I had all the wiring etc. Sorry.

several weekend job? yeah right. A few hours at most.
All you need is a radio door that opens, A CD player and a pair of component speakers.
Its Really not that bad to run the wires through the door boots. I could install a custom harness, a custom antenna, run wires through the doors and install component speakers into an s2000 in about 2-3 hours no sweat. Without having to chop or splice into ANY of your OEM wires behind the dash.
So I ask you again, Where are you located? I could set you up with a circuit city to do the job for you. It would probably run you about $500 installed for a basic CD/FM and a set of Component Speakers. (thats parts and labor)
It would obviously be alot cheaper if your car is prewired and only the Headunit and speakers are missing.
