It's all Alpine. The nav, the headunit and the changer. But the changer works on their older bus system as opposed to Ai-Net. So with a modern head unit you will need an adaptor.

With regards to the nav system, it uses a small hard drive with the operating system and maps on it. The same unit is used in other Honda/Acura in the US but I'm not aware of nav options in your local (Cypress?). Unless you can get a drive for your locality it is pretty much useless.

um, my headunit was made by matsushita.

known in the US as panasonic.

they busses are made to Alpine's specs but they are not all made by alpine. the cd changers are alpine I'm almost sure.

So it's hard drive based, not DVD?

Yes, but that takes a lot of knowhow in the electronics department. Its not just a plug and play. A lot of things need to be added/rewired. (About 800 bucks or so worth)

You sure? There were all sorts of people selling Pilot and MDX Nav systems with the proprietry HD in them a while back.

Maybe the current systems int he US are DVD, but the fact is, the JDM one is HD based. IF you want to use it in the US you will either need the US HD, or to replace the unit.
