S2000 Remote replacement
Hey guys, I have recently purchased my S2K, after purchasing the car i realized it only had 1 remote for the car.
I have gone to Honda today to get a quote on how much a replacement + programming would cost and they have quoted me around $400 all up
This is quite dear. I have actually browsed around the web and have found that there are some OEM genuine remotes from the US which are around $50.
So my question was - Would it be possible to purchase one of these USDM oem S2K remotes and bring it to my local honda dealer to have it programmed to suit my car?
Also i have noticed from the picture that these remotes have an extra red panic button which my one doesn't, does this matter?
Ps. Im from Australia
Here is a link of the remote:

You're on the right track. Look on the back of your S2000 remote and find the FCC ID. Find a remote with the same FCC ID on eBay or some other second hand source. Finally, program the new remote using the instructions at the link below.
I only received one remote when I purchased my S2000 and was able to program a second remote without any problems using these instructions.

To be on the safe side, they should be identical. I don't know if the AU remotes are the same as the US remotes so I thought it best to mention that. I was lucky enough to find an exact match for mine(FCC ID: E4EG8DJ) on fleabay quite easily.
I'll have a look at mine tomorrow and see whether it will be the same.

I dunno why an aussie remote would have an FCC id though.
Nope -- that's the type of lithium battery that it takes. As Gigdy has already pointed out, if you think about it, it's not unreasonable that an Aussie remote wouldn't have an FCC (US agency) ID on it.
