Default s2000 Speakers and S Pods Question

I've only had my 2002 s2000 for about a year and one of the only things I really dislike about the car is the sound system. It is flat out horrible. The previous owner upgraded the head unit to a pioneer head unit. I am hoping that I can replace the speakers and actually listen to music with the top down. I know that s2k doors are really shallow, causing a problem for new after market speakers. I am not going to run an amp, and i had these in mind:

Would these fit the car perfectly without any modification?

I also so these surfing through the web:

I know they are knock-off of the S-pods but they are a lot cheaper. I was planning on getting the same set of speakers above for the headrest if i get these. Have any of you guys had experience with these?

Any opinions would help and would be appreciated!

Well you do know to run those, you have to have an amp, correct? Alot of people here have those S-Pods. So far everyone has liked them. Just get a 4 channel amp, hook those up, and hook up your door speakers to it also, there you go!

Most put it behind or under the passenger seat. Im at work right now and dont want to open a bunch of links haha. So I cant look at them right now. They will probably move this thread to the Electronics section, but alot of guys have upgraded their speakers and put these pods in. You will just have to wait until one of the chime in.

I think the best way(as well as easiest) is to mount some speakers behind the seat. I just installed some Polk Audio db401's(4 inch) behind my seats to match the Polk db651s I have in the doors. I couldn't be happier. Also using a Kenwood HU.

i have those knockoff S-pods.

know this

they are made of heavy cardboard and they install with zipties and a sheet of black fabric over the speakers. they work, but they arent the nicest in the world.

also given the odd shape of our roll hoops when you snug then down, amke sure you pay attention and do it evenly or they are gonna wind up crooked.

i paid like....50 or something for mine new. and for that price ive been happy with em. im not willing to spend the 250something on real S pods.

I have a Kenwood H/U with Infinity Reference 6030cs setup in my 03. I power them off a 2 channel Kenwood amp though. The speakers fit in my door, I had someone else do the install though, so I don't know if they had to do any modification to fit them if much. The amp is installed in the left side of the trunk.

The setup is definitely an improvement over stock, but I am most likely adding a sub in the future. I'm debating adding the Spods and a second amp on top of that though.
