Dude, buy the DCI from the S2ki marketplace. I just put one on my alpine unit (CDA-9835) and it works amazing with the dash controlls. The mute button and all! Plus, it has a speed sensitive volume thingy that turns the volume up as you go faster. Definitely a nice mod when the top is down. Look into getting one. I'd never have an aftermarket radio without one. Here's a link: http://marketplace.s2ki.com/s2ki/product.p...85&cat=6&page=1

Not sure if it would work with your unit since it doesn't have a remote, but it's worth a shot. PM Modifry (the one that makes them) to see if he has a solution.

BTW, I just checked up on your unit. It's remote ready so it should be able to work fine with the DCI. Trust me, it's definitely a must have for the radio.

Thanks Cyclon, but it's probably an undersight on my part, I really should have got a head unit with IR with the adapter. I will see how things go as I will probably renew the S2k 2001 early next year. I will upgrade the head unit at the same time.

Thanks for the idea, I will see if Alpine have any suggestions.

Hey What's going on. I have the CDA 9847 with Ipod also. I do all of my install work myself. I in stalled the ipod interface behind the panel on the passenger side with velcro. I also drilled a hole in the lower center part of the glove box, ran the ipod cable thru and put a gorment plug in the hole and it looks factory. I will see about doing a start to finish install with pic. May need help posting the pic's though. Also get the DCI from the go fast lab. I love being able to use my dash controls.

Soarer,

Get the European dash control adaptor made by Alpine. It includes a harness specifically for the car and it retains the dash controls. I have one here with my European spec Alpine radio (7893R). The part # is listed on Alpines website.

I know all the European units have the jack on the back to use this. The new US units indicate they do as well. I'm HOPING that the US ones do, because it saves me money from buying a DCI.
