!S2K: iPod integration
I have a Ford Econoline F350 van I just bought to tow my car around with and I want to use my iPod (60GB) as my primary music source. It has an el-cheapo alpine headunit I'll want to replace.
Dash space is no problem for me. My preference would be to have a dock mounted to the dash I could pop my iPod into that would provide hardwire connection to the headunit and charge the iPod both. I don't really want an external display or joystick type thing, I can mount the iPod far closer to the driver side than the headunit and it would be far more easy to just control the playlists using the iPod itself.
What sort of options have I got available? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it (it's a cargo van) but I do want to be able to listen to my iPod music collection while on long road trips. The FM transmitter idea sucks, I want something hardwired and hard mounted.
I see that Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. all have iPod adapters and when used with lesser models don't provide any fancy control options (a good thing). H+K has a dock "Play+go". Is that a better option?
Any advice from those who've been there or are familiar with many different headunit/iPod options would be appreciated.
