Default S2K Keys

Does anyone know, or know how I could find out, if it would be possible to buy a blank Accord key and get it to work on my 05 s2k?
I hate having the fob...and much prefer the all in one sort I had on my Accord. The buttons are the same, and the key head appears to be the same...just not sure of the electronics working?

You might have some luck posting this question in the electronics forum.

There was talk of this with the TL (i think) key. That one has the flip out key. I remember it was a lot of work and not everything worked right. Try doing a search on it and you should come up with something. If that doesn't work, do what itsmylittlebrothersbike suggested.

Lots of R&D went into trying to get the TL key to work with the s2k but the frequencies it operated on were different and would definitely not work. I agree I hate the separate key and fob deal, but I'm too lazy to look for something else that will work.

what about the accord key? Switchblade would be great, but Id settle for an all in one like the accords and pilots have.

It's been tried before with minimal success. Basically you have to gut everything and replace / solder / glue the innards.

What I've read on the subject seems to indicate that the cars with all-in-one keys operate on a different frequency than the S2000s, making out lives difficult in this area.

There are plenty of posts that talk about addressing this by modifying the key, but I'm wondering if a cleaner solution might not be had by modifying the *car* instead...

Something I'd like to check into would be to:
  • Find out if the receiver in the car is a separate module
  • Find out if it's compatible with one from a honda with the all-in-one key
  • Have a new all-in-one key cut with the S2000 pattern
  • Put the Accord module into the S2000

(You know, it's odd that, by now, nobody's threadjacked the post by asking crap like "Why would anyone want to do this? It doesn't add any horsepower! The S2000's supposed to be raw! If you wanted an all-in one key, you should have bought an SUV" and the usual drivel...)
