You'll have to find 3/4" tweeters to get them to fit without any work. Most 1" tweeters will fit, but you'll have to dremel (carefully so you don't damage the actual tweeter) the outside plastic casing for the mounting posts. The Polk db651's do have a 3/4" tweeter, so there shouldn't be any modifications required.

As for subs, I highly HIGHLY recommend the Stereo Integrity Mag 12". $250 shipped, and it will absolutely blow that Alpine 12" out of the water in terms of sound quality and output. www.stereointegrity.com

The Polks will be ok. I'd recommend putting more $$$ into the speakers though. Realistically, your speaker is going to have one of the largest tonal influences on the sound you experience (besides HU).

You should go with a dedicated mono block, class D amplifier for your sub (whether Alpine or SI or whatever). Class D amplifiers don't make your car's electrical system work as hard as a Class A/B for the same output power. If you go with the SI Mag, I recommend the JL 500/1 - the Mag is rated to run 500W-1000W RMS in a 1 cu ft enclosure.
What would you say for better speackers??

Thankss

That box only has 0.80 cu ft of interior space. I think you'll be hard put to find a sub that's going to really sound good in that limited amount of space. Maybe a 10, but then, I've never been a fan of 10" subwoofers - they don't really hit the low bass notes like a 12" (not talking loudness, talking frequency range)

How much are you willing to spend?

I recommend looking into:

Hertz
Morel
Focal
CDT
DLS
Rainbow
Seas

if you're looking for a higher end install.

If money truly weren't an issue, and I wasn't installing in a convertible, probably Rainbow Platinums. Something like $3-4k. But, that's overkill in a convertible. I'd say go with something in the $500-600 range in any of those brands.

If you're going to do a 4-chan active x-over setup, you can even save yourself a good chunk of change by purchasing just the speakers instead of the entire component set (referred to as separates) since a good portion of the cost of the component set goes towards the passive x-overs.

And, yes, those tweeters would fit with no modifications. Personally, I have 1" tweeters and I just dremeled out channels in the plastic casing to fit the mounting posts.

I'd go with Rainbow Germaniums in that price range or Hertz Milles. Go active and get it tuned. You'll never look back after that.
