Well, after months of pondering and a week of fabrication... here is my "spare-tire cubby" 0.56ft^3 fiberglass subwoofer box. It is holding a 10" Boston Pro woofer... and it's loosly stuffed with fiberfill (thank you MacGyver!):

And here it is installed. BONUS: it can be removed/installed in <2 minutes and requires no glue, screws, etc. It is in so tightly that when you shake the box the whole car moves...

I will be relocating my spare...

Just thought I would share some of my handiwork...

Shaner, have you actually tested the sub in the car? My back "shelf" is vented to let bass come into the cabin. Some of the air does leak through other places than the venting, but I'm curious if you have plans to vent the car or if you are going to leave it. I'm assuming it won't be loud enough without a venting, at least not loud enough for me

Do you have pictures of your vented back shelf? I'm having a hard time imagining what that looks like. Does it make a lot of difference?

This is the original venting:

I went ahead and cut the whole center out, using the outside 1-2 inches as the frame. I then used a vented peice of cloth like you see in the picture.

Beautiful Wes! I shall do the same!

I'll change mine a bit so people don't look at my install and say "Hey, you instituted a Wsmaster"...

Wes,

Have you heard your sub with and without the venting? Does it make a pretty good difference?

The above venting is what the installer made. One night I was going to put black electrical tape around the edges of the "shelf" as it rattles under certain bass notes (I, at the time, had sand ankle weights keeping mine from shaking too much). I took the shelf out, and figured I'd see if the bass was louder with the shelf out. It was much loud, and stronger. I decided right then to just make the whole shelf a venting. I went and bought the supplies that night and did it in less than an hour. The way I did mine, the back shelf doesn't snap on to the car, it's just resting back there. I eliminated ALL rattling, and now have much better air flow. I don't have a good picture of the new venting, but I can take one.

Shaner,

Is your amp bolted, straped, or velcro'd down? I'm assuming that is an amp on the left side of the second pic. How much does it cost to fabricate such a sub? I too removed my spare tire.

S2R,

Those are my processors... one is for my IVA-C800 and the other is for my ERA-G320 EQ/Surround processor. My amps will go in front of the "to be closed" area by the spare/gas tank...

I'll post pictures later...
