Default Shaved Antenna... Key fob wont work

So the last owner shaved the antenna on my AP1, it looks good I don't mind it.

However, the key fob doesnt work unless im really close to the car, and I'm assuming because it isnt getting the proper reception it needs.

How could I go about fixing this problem without reinstalling the antenna? I'd like to keep it shaved.

Try this, as you approach the car, put the key fob up to your throat, open your mouth and push the button. See how much the distance increases. Doesn't fix your problem but it will give you more range.

Does the key fob operate through the radio antenna? I think I'm going to try and install an aftermarket antenna that the lowrider truck guys use.

I'm pretty sure the fob does not work through the antrenna. I have to be within about 5-10 feet of my car for the fob to work. You might try reprogramming the fob to your car. There is a procedure for it in the helm manual.
