Default A shift indicator I'd like to see...

Not for upshifting - my ears work great for that, it's for downshifting. A single digit display that would display the lowest 'safe' gear to shift into would be cool. Let's say we make it adjustable for a downshift target RPM range of 6k-8.5k, and maybe make it flash or change color in the last 500RPM of the target range. Am I making any sense here?
Of course, it would be way cool if it were configurable as an HUD, as the goal here is to be able to pick the right gear for entering a corner, and I don't like taking my eyes off a corner...

There's always the stock upshift indicator that gives you a tiny jolt in your pants and loss of momentum when it is time to shift.
