Default Should I Bridge my amp?

Running component speakers only with an amp

Polk Audio MM6501 Component Speakers:

* 2.7-ohm impedance
* power range: 25-125 watts RMS (250 watts peak power)
* frequency response: 40-25,000 Hz
* sensitivity: 94 dB

Alpine MRV-F340 Amp:

* 55 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
* 65 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
* 130 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode
* Minimum Impedance Bridged: 4

should I bridge my amp? Channels 3 and 4 aren't being used nor do I have any plans for a sub in the future. Would the speakers appreciate the extra power or would the amp run too hot if bridged?

After reviewing the specs of the amp and the speakers, I don't think that bridging will be a good idea. If you had 4 ohm speakers, or an amp that was capable of being bridged at 2.7 ohms then I would absolutely recommend it. In this case you amp would run too hot. Sorry about that.
