Default a simple cost effective deterrent

Hey guys I came across this in another thread,

"Bought a 12v flashing red led. drilled a small hole just behind the brake lever. Mounted the LED. Connected the negative to the ground switch of the brake lever and the posative to a constant 12v source. Now when the parking brake is engaged the LED flashes and it looks like you have an alarm. It also is a good indicator that your brake is on."

I live in an area that doesn't have all that much crime, so I'm thinking that a flashing red light might be a simple cost effective deterrent. Where is the flashing led placed when most alarms are installed? On the dash or center console?

most alarm LED's are placed based on the car itself... generally in a very visible area... i think the center console is a great location, but due to the high cost of replacement (if goofed), i ended up putting mine on the driver's side A-pillar. i have some mild regrets about that now...

Yup. When I got my alarm, I drilled the LED right into the shifter housing (That metal-looking piece of plastic)

The center console is from an 03 s2k or earlier. My s2k is an '04. I want ot be able to get to these wires in my '04. I don't kno where the clips are to remove the console.

im interested also.

is there a way you can install it on the steering column? which wires would you tap for the power(12v),ground, ignition(ground w/ key off)?

where can you buy a led that comes prewired for the 12v , ignition, ground?

or does anyone know if you can order the stickers that come with the alarm to put on the window?
