Default Simple s2k system with kick panels :)

hi all, new here, sorta, used to be here, and then had some major issues in life...but now back building systems

just wanted to share a few quick pics of a 05 s2k.

with all convertibles, the main challenge is to be able to over come the road and wind noise with the top down on the hgih way.

i basically say there is no subsitute for speakers and power. In other words, load the front stage with speakres and power them with a solid amp

so first, a set of DLS 426 component coaxials went into the stock lower door location, then, it ook the stock plastic kick panels out, and molded them to accept a pair of DLS UP6 6.5" components. wasnt the easiest to do since the kicks are kinda strange shaped..but came out okay i decided to once again do the suede covering since i think that just looks oh so classy

here are the two finished kicks

and here is the rest of hte car, with the kicks in the vehicle. stock HU was pulled in favor of a pioneer premier 680 headunit.

the trunk is just a simple set up, nothing fancy at all...fiberglass sub box housing two image dynamics id10s, and a ppi 6600 amp, i decided to do it all in the well to save space. the top trim piece is suede, and the sub well is lined in suede as well... a top cover covered in trunk liner goes above this to protect everything. but i didnt get a picture of it

and the final touch, i hid the PPI qbass control inside the storage bin in his center console, i wonder if he can find it without me telling him, but to reach it, all he has to do is move his wrist

just too it for a spin on the high way, at 70-80mph with cars all around, and the top down, every single word comes through crystal clear mission accomplished.

senstational, DLS is known of smoothness, and with two sets of spekrs on each side, the entire thing just blasts clean music, totally warm and you can hear everyword with the top down at fast highway speeds

I think it looks great and probably sounds great too but I need a foot rest. My legs are too long. Also the sub box is smiling at me.

its a sacrifice, i could move the speaker further up,. but that would reduce some room near your ankles i was able to rest my foot still on the footrest while test driving it, and i waer size 13 shoes

but of course, its a balance between having good sound, and sacrificing some room, but i have found that the human body adjusts amazingly quick to changes in enviorment

the customer comment after taking a spin with the top down was "i have one complaint, i cant hear the engine noise anymore, and i cant hear the wind noise anymore, infact, i cant hear anyhting but the music while going 80 on the highway" lol
