Sirius Radio Recommendation
I've been reading a bunch of postings and searching here and at Crutchfield, etc. but I'm still confused about adding Sirius to my 2000 S2K. I'm a complete newbie at this. I've owned the car since Nov 1999 but haven't done anything to the radio.
My wife just bought a new car that came with a built-in Sirius/CD/Radio and I've decided that maybe I'd put Sirius in the S2000.
Are there any Sirius radios out there that replace the stock unit and retain the dash controls? Or is the only way to get a Sirius ready unit and a separate tuner under the seat and some sort of separate hack to keep the dash controls? I see that there are a number of portable devices that suction mount to the windshield but that seems a pain given the location of the 12v outlet. Any other ideas on adding satellite radio without too much hacking on the car.
Thanks
The 04 and 05 headunit's have a built in support for XM or Sirius (don't remember which one, sorry) so if you could get that (and the wiring that goes back into the trunk then you could use a stock setup. Other than that it's getting a FM modulated tuner and the only controls you have on the side would be for volume (as changing the station moves it off of the XM/Sirius tuner).
The easiest and most cost efficient way of doing it is to get an aftermarket headunit with modifry's DCI unit. Just get an aftermarket headunit that supports the tuner (XM/Sirius) that you want and go from there. If you want to find the best system to do this with then e-mail or call the people at crutchfield as they are VERY helpful. You can also get a lot of that stuff a lot cheaper on eBay sometimes.
Good luck,

there are a few head units that have the sirius tuner built in. all you need is an antenna.
I had an XM roady with a WIRED fm modulator. sounded good, but added clutter. I got a newer XM ready sony head unit and the XM direct tuner box. sounds good and no clutter. dash controls change XM stations now, too.
