Default Sirius Satellite Antenna

Has anyone had any issues with the magnetic antenna damaging the trunk (or whichever surface you put it on)? I wont use the cord cover that comes with it opting instead to put it at the edge of the trunk. But I am still concerned about protecting the paint around it and also when removing it.

Any comments?

Havent had issues as of yet, made sure I waxed the area under it and used a piece of felt to protect the paint

I was originally going to mount my antenna on the trunk but I chose to mount mine in the car on top of the dash. I placed it in the center between the defroster vents and so far have not had signal issues. I just didn't want to have anything outside of the car for aesthetic reasons, as well as security issues. However, if you do mount it on the trunk, I would think that if you were to occasionally remove the antenna and clean under it you'd be okay. Probably wouldn't hurt to put down a good quality wax before hand. Good luck!

I thought about putting it on the dash but I want a clean install. How did you hide the wire?

I took mine off and it did scratch the trunk lid.

Like many other members, my SIRIUS antennae is located in the secret compartment.

It's stealth, and the reception is fabulous.

i think mounting under the trunk would provide a good signal

although obviously it's covered by metal, it has a thin unobstructed and consistent view

I don't have first hand experience with a hardtop I recall reading a post or two stating the under the trunk didn't work.

I'd suggest trying it. Do your install or use a plug 'n play and put the antennae in the sc, dash or under dash to see how they work. Use some tape for a temp installation

I noticed on the SIRIUS site they have a new product that's referred to as a "wired fm modulator relay". Don't know what it does, but my hope is it would allow SIRIUS reception through a standard antennae. Any EJ know?
