The net in your passenger footwell.

Does that unit have a remote control?
Yes, it does, but I thought I would never need it. I wonder if it would work even if it wasn't pointed directly at the unit i.e. if the Sportster is in the side net and the remote is in my hand from the driver seat. Does this remote have to be line of sight or is it radio frequency?

^That's what I was looking for, thanks. I don't think the piller will work for me though since I need my guage pod there. I also use the FM modulator and am going to do so in each vehicle. I didn't think about the entire bracket moving from car to car, I figured it would just be the Sportster itself and a different dock would be in each car. I see I am going to have to give this some more thought if the entire dock is moving.

I thought about Modifry's bracket and am going to check into that some more. I also thought about using the vent holder and use the vents above the stereo since I never use those vents for air.

Thanks for your thoughts folks, that is what I wanted.
Nah, mine's on the windscreen, next to the pillar. Would be "behind" any pillar gauges. I'll get a pic real quick.

If you buy 2 docks, then all you have to move is the Sportster. I had 2 antennas, and 2 FM hardwires (which make a WORLD of difference on the FM reception) but I only had one dock/12V.

An extra dock is around 50.00, so I planned it to leave the antenna and hardwire FM in each car, and move the +12v/Dock/unit setup. Your mileage may vary of course.

I can't push this enough. The FM hardwire kits are only 20.00 each. They're worth every penny. I used to have to channel search to keep my FM modulated signal from getting overridden by OTA traffic. Now, the unit has an in from antenna, and an out to FM antenna, which plugs into the back of my stereo's FM plug. I get full signal all the time, and never have to channelchange.

That is odd that the built in FM sender gets over ridden. In my XM Xpress unit, I have never had a problem in any of the three cars I have used it in. Do you live in a large metro area with alot of strong signals?

Yes. I do. Not only that, but I commute between two of them (Portland and Seattle). If I find a station that's clear in both cities, i'm bound to find that there's a station somewhere in the middle that runs right over my FM transmitter.

Doing the hardwire took care of that 100%.

So here's pics of my setup now that I'm not at work and can upload to my ftp. I wouldn't say it's my cleanest install ever, but it beat drilling and it's easy to move from car to car.

I do like that. I wonder if the Modifry post will handle the Sportster? Then of course, I would have to deal with the wires.
