Arrow So I blew my 12" sub and bought a new one...

Ok so I have a box that fits in the tool well of my s2k, I bought it off my friend with a boston acoustic 12" subwoofer in there. A few months later the sub blew and I bought a new one : Rockford Fosgate - Punch 12" Dual-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1170289780974

I tried to drop it in and the subwoofer is just a little too big, it won't fit flush with the box, it has enough clearance on all sides except for the diameter. What should I do?? The mounting diameter on the manual says 11.25' and my hole is only 11' wide.

Can a stereo shop enlarge the hole in the box just a little more? I'm thinking about just filing down the edges of the hole to make it bigger.

Thanks in advanced

yes if u take it to a shop, they should be able to enlarge it some more for you. Is the box made out of mdf?

It should take any good shop with a router 3 minutes to fix it.

Ok so I got too impatient to wait so I borrowed a dremel and opened up the hole a bit and bam! It fits!

I'm not too familiar about sound systems but should I be feeling a flow of air coming out of the box? (its supposed to be sealed) When I got the bass going you can feel air being pushed out from around the front. I'm guessing I didn't do a good enough job screwing in the sub??

No you shouldn't feel any air moving at all. You also should have sealed the sub into the box with a thin strip of weather stripping. And yes you want to screw the sub down tight. But just don't strip the screw holes out.

I think I did a leaky job then... to solve the problem, Get some thin weather stripping and line the edges before I screw it down??

Yeah that should do it. Something really thin for the weather stripping. Are you sure you made the hole large enough for the sub when you fixed it?

Oh ok I gotta stop by home depot then, I believe I made it large enough, I was on the dremel for about 15 minutes. When I dropped it in it was flush on all sides.
