Default soft top motor problem

Recently this has happened to me, but it seemed to have gone away. When the car's power is all on..that is, key is turned all the way on, I hear the usual quick electric motor sound for 2 seconds , that stops....which has been there since I got the car...I assume that is normal.

Then, as soon as I hit the ignition, I get this electrical motor noise that seems to come from behind my head. I was worried of course, so to isolate where it was coming from, I found a few things. It isn't coming from the engine bay..no matter what I do...put the car in neutral in a stand still, engage the transmission and drive, the sound persists...so as long as the engine is running, I hear this electrical noise.

This noise went away quickly but today it came back. I actually forgot about it. On a whim, I was thinking the only electrical motor is the soft top motor. So I opend the top all the way up, then hit the button again in the "open" position and the sound went away..but quicky came back. I have a feeling that something is keeping the electric motor running that opens/closes the soft top. Really didn't know where to start searching for advice on this one...is this a possible known issue, or happened to anyone before? I am afraid that it is an electrical or electrical motor problem, and it could cause the motor to burn out, or anything else.

I hope someone has had this experience before and can share Thanks!

He here is a test...

Leave the top half way up before you start the car. If you hear the noise and the top doesnt move either way, it isn't the motor.

Fuel pump.

If you are able to put the top up and down with the switch, and stop/start it in mid motion with the switch, then there is no way it's getting powered when your finger is off the switch.
