Softer horn?
im wondering if theres a softer horn alternative than the stock "honk" after you lock the doors using the stock remote. more like a bmw whistle, instead of the obnoxious honk. (if anything, id replace the horn with sometihng louder, but not if its going to honk every time i want to confirm the doors are locked)
anyone in the car electronics business know? is there a similar option for aftermarket alarm and remote systems?
thikning more about it, i think there would be an issue with the actual alarm also running off the same, quieter buzzer, which would defeat its purpose... hmmm... does anyone know a way around that? or is it a separate relay when the alarm goes off?

I'm working on a project to make the car "beep" instead of honk when you lock the doors. The relay is tied solely to the keyless entry circuit, so I don't think it will affect the alarm. Stay tuned to the electronics forum.. I should have it installed and posted sometime this weekend.
Either one, dont press your key fob twice. or two get an aftermarket alarm that will just bypass your honk.
If the sound is all youre looking for a cheap alarm that can unlock your doors and trunk will do the trick.

If you need confirmation, why don't you just look back at the car when you hit the button the first time? You will see the park lights blink. I only ever hit the button a second time if the sun is too bright for me to see the lights. On the other hand, if I'm close enough, I can hear the door locks click. At least for me, this is a non-issue.

some of you are right tho, it really isnt completely necessary to press the lock twice. but sometimes i forget to lock it (not used to a car with a remote) and if i do remember, im a bit of a ways away i wouldnt be able to hear the doors lock or see the parking lights, so the audible confirmation is helpful.
