I just installed the 1621 speakers...in 40 minutes! They sound much better than the stock (read cardboard) speakers, but they could use a little "kick" (I will now be seeking an amp that is just as sensible and well-matched to the "S"

"Regulators! Let's Rock on out of here!" (wouldn't that be an anachronism, by the way?)

Once you learn how, door panels are a snap-less than 10 min. Here's what you do. Remove trim around door handle (one screw). Remove the 2 screws in the pull handle (pop off the 2 covers over the screws.). Use a small screwdriver covered with a piece of tape. Put in behind the door panel where the push-in clip is at the upper front corner of the door panel. Pry out until the clip comes loose. Best to put your hand over the clip or it may fly across the garage. Now lie on the floor and look up at the bottom of the door panel. You will see some clips. Pry there to pop out the lower clips. Then just pull on the panel until the other clips come loose and lift her off!

You are right on the money -- took me 40 minutes, too and I am not much of a tool guy.

I bought the Sony xPlod 1621 speakers at Crutchfield for $74/pr, including 2-day shipping. (I think people on the board have been quoting $120.) When you check-out, they ask for information on your car and then provide the Honda adapter free (they don't list the S2K, so use Accord as your model).

One point that I didn't see mentioned anywhere: when I unsnapped the door panel, some of my clips stuck to the door panel and some stuck to the door frame. You have to remove the ones in the frame and put them back in the slots in the door panel in order to put the panel back on.

Otherwise, this was an absolute piece of cake and the improvement was huge.

I did this the first week I got my car and have been very happy with them. I have had them for over 1.5 years and still love them.

Sounds small BUT!

TIP: When you install the speakers make sure that you position the speakers so that the high's are not going to be covered up by your leg. So notice how you sit when you drive and either position the tweeters to the left of your leg or up towards the window. I know... I know... sounds nit picky but take it from someone who drove for 6 months then redid the install It does make a difference.

Gratz on your news speakers all! You can now hear muzik when you drive with the top down.

When I installed the XSV1621's I didn't get the Honda adapter. I just cut the old ones off and used a soldering tool to form a nice tight connection to the new speakers.
