Sony MP450x replacement?
I've been interested in getting an MP3 head unit for my S2000, but I also wanted to preserve the function of the dash controls. S2kMan's direct wire system for Sony units appealed to me, so I purchased a unit. The only MP3 H/U that Sony makes (to the best of my knowledge) is the MP450x. However, most local retailers have stopped carrying the MP450x due to the unit being discontinued. I'm not interested in mail ordering, as I've heard a fair amount of negative comments about this unit, and want to be able to return the unit easily if I'm not satisfied.
My question: has anyone got any information as to the MP450x's replacement? Any info on release date?
One of my fears is that the 2nd gen unit from Sony will include irritating SDMI software.
Thanks, in advance, for the info!

crutchfield has a great return policy and they carry the unit. 30 days and they pay for return shipping. So just get the unit from them without any worries.

Check for a Sony outlet store near you. I got one in SC for $229, refurbished, full factory warrenty. Looks and acts new, and the only complaint is I think the FM sensitivity is a little on the wimpy side. CD/MP3 sounds fine.
When I bought it in December they had a "no return" policy, but last time I was in the store they changed that to "30 day return policy".

Thanks for the input. BTW, the reason I stayed away from Crutchfield is that they wanted a relatively princely ~$330 for the unit. In my opinion, that's simply too much to pay for a first generation unit, as comparables from Aiwa, Panasonic, etc. are ~$200 locally. That said, I may have paid that much for a next gen unit from Sony (assuming no SDMI), but I've gotten no info as to a release date.
